West System additives
More than just a quick fix but mostly used for quick fixes.
What are they?
Additives are mostly polyester particles that can be added to the already mixed epoxy batch to thicken the mix, strengthen the finished product or both.
Common Additives on the 49er
402 Glass Fibre Blend
(Torsion strength)
Chop strand matting (CSM), without binder, chopped into small pieces
404 High Density Filler
(Surface fixes)
A high density filler
407 Low Density Filler
(Surface and bigger fixes)
A low density fairing filler
410 Microlight
(Core material)
An ultra low density filler/fairing compound that cannot be used on final surfaces
